About The Project

No matter where you are coming from, where you are going to, or what you are looking at, I believe it is a comfort to see someone else looking with you at the same thing, appreciating the sense of beauty the same way you do. If you have your friends or family with you, then you can share your feelings about the scene, talk and laugh about it, or even discuss it from different angles! And if you are alone, even a stranger beside you makes it more real,.... although time may pass without exchanging any words.

On June 2007, when I was visiting the big citadel in Bosancan I saw a lady sitting on a bench looking at the view in front of her. The view was magnificent so I grabbed my camera and looked at it through my lens. I noticed the view was not quite as beautiful without the lady herself in it! So I took the shot with the lady taking in the view with me.

That made the first shot of a big series of photos I started since then. By sneaking behind people without their knowledge, sometimes asking their permission and even their name, I started gathering photos little by little for my project LookingWith.com .

So I Continue

This is an ongoing project, I'll upload photos whenever I have time and add more to my collection. In addition, I try to remember where I took those photos; sometimes it is hard to remember or for privacy reasons I won’t release the location.

Most of the texts describing the locations have been taken from Wikipedia, newspapers, or blogs on the internet. I wanted to collect them and give you some information about the place or event that I had the pleasure of observing.

About Me

My name is Fatemeh Farajmandi, and I am a User Experience & Visual Designer specialising in digital media living and working in San Francisco.

I have more than fifteen years of experience in graphics design, working with Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, Flash, Motion (Final Cut Studio), HTML, & CSS. I have designed various website templates (some samples), & you can find some of my graphic works here, as well as my experience with creating mobile & tablet apps!

I was born and raised in Bandar Lengeh (Iran) till I graduated high school, then I moved to Shiraz (Iran) to study Software Engineering at Azad University. After finishing my bachelor's degree, I went to Tehran in order to work as a graphics & multimedia designer in AICTC (Advanced Information & Communication Technology Center). I then moved to Montbéliard (France) to continue my studies in Masters of Multimedia & Digital Art at PSM (Produits et Services Multimedia) at the University of Franche-Comté.

I worked at Roche in Paris for more than three and a half years as an art director & visual designer. I was part of the Roche Digital Marketing Agency, which is an internal service aimed at supporting the development of eMarketing across Roche and maximizing the potential of the Internet channel.  Being responsible for overall design and quality control of global websites targeting various cultures and legal requirements gave me the chance to interact directly with customers, project managers, solution architects, internal and external design agencies and developers in order to gather and communicate requirements.

Working in an international company gave me an intimate knowledge of the corporate world, and opportunity of knowing other nations, their cultures, and their perspective in life.

I have worked for one year and eight month as Senior Visual Designer at Mindjet. I was responsible for the visual design of all Mindjet products e.g. desktop, web, tablet & mobile. My focus was on designing engaging and innovative end to end user experiences using unique visuals across the entire product line. I enjoyed creating flow diagrams and high-fidelity mockups as part of the user experience process, defining a consistent visual language throughout the product and preparing detailed visual design specifications using visual style guidelines.

Since November 2013 I’ve been working as UX designer in Cloud and Mobile Collaboration team at Cisco.

Each year on the first day of Spring (Persian new year or Norooz), as a hobby, I designed a clip about this event (available through 3eidi). I also like painting, but my favorite hobby is photography which you can see part of it through my Looking With project!
